A: Rotors that pop off when the wheel is undone (except for the caliper 
holding them from coming all the way off) are called floating rotors. The 
wheel studs and center hole align them and the wheel nuts keep them in 
place. Floating hubs is a different story! (some early 2wd Cherokees had a 
hub and spindle like the RWD cars mounted to the same knuckle as a 4x4. I 
had one I packed along for a spare hub in case I broke and axle/bearing or 
something while 4 wheeling in my '86 Comanche)

Jim, I'm not familiar with a "floating rotor" design. The 91 Comanche 4x4 I 
had used regular rotors that came off like front drive rotors, only deeper 
offset (would make perfect rear reotors for AMCs!). Are the front rotors 
that much different on a 4x4? I've seen a few other 4x4 trucks, but never 
anything with a floating rotor (mostly 70s 4x4s). I would assume the rotor 
can move on the studs or whatever holds it in place??? Wish I had my TSMs 

with me!!
