Blown transfer case???????

I have a 1984 Eagle wagon 4X4 with 51,000 miles.I
think I have blow the transfer case while trying to
get out of some very high snow and ice mixture,In two
wheel drive I can feel the car slip and make a moaning
noise and has a hard time going.I put in 4 wheel drive
and everything seems fine.My question is am I hurting
the car anymore by driving it in 4 wheel drive for
about 2 more weeks until I get it fixed.I drive maybe
5-10 miles a day.
