A: Something weird is going on, but it seems to be Win XP related. My hard
drive suddenly spins up when I access EBay the past few days and freezes up.
I run the Lavasoft and my IS2004 antivirus
( http://housecall.trendmicro.com for a free checkup ), plus dump the
cookies before I enter any passwords (for safety's sake) There was a bug
going around at Christmas time that was lowering the SSL rating of people
with Explorer (my wife opened a Christmas card from a friend and infected
ours) and they were stealing passwords and credit card numbers. (Someone
tried to run stuff on my old card numbers, but they are marked to report any
such actions as attempted fraud) I think I still have the SANS report on
that one.

Might just be heavy Internet traffic in your area,
tying up cyber-lanes of communications. Could be you
have too many cookies ( on your computer ) and need
to download Lavasoft's Ad-aware 6.0 to clear out all
the spyware. :) Or, could just be your PC is croaking,
if your cooling fan isn't working or is very dirty.
Could be lots of things...I've had no problem
searching Ebay this week in VA, regardless of any
local area problems you have experienced.
