Unless you get a NOS dampener, I would not bother with a used one, unless
it's handy. Dale manufacturing started off rebuilding Corvair dampeners and
flywheels, and has gone to rebuilding any dampener, with a guarantee,
probably better than stock. I followed the Corvair scene with about 6
Corvairs before I got broke loose by divorce, and Dale's was the rebuilder
of choice. Never needed one, had enough spares, but even new ones didn't
have as good a guarantee as Dale's. I should tell you that Corvairs tended
to loosen up their riveted 3-piece flywheel, which knocked the heck out of
the dampener, so they did come apart frequently, but Dale's uses a molded
compound, urethane, I think, didn't check, so it beats the rubber normally
used in factory stuff.
