Randy,
The appearance of a post on a future date is simple. The list server
uses the time that the sending machine put on it. It appears that
the clock (or time zone) on Bryan's computer is set incorrectly, so
the list server just filed it where Bryan's computer told it to.
On the subject of copyright, you have a point, but copyright deals
with "rights", not "writing", so the correct spelling is "copyright",
not "copywrite".
In addition, "LLC" is an abbreviation that stands for "Limited
Liability Company". It is not the name of the copyright licensee; it
is their form of business organization. The actual name of the
company that is licensed by DaimlerChrysler to produce old TSMs on
CD-ROM is "MuscleCARS LLC".
Listers,
OPPS!!, I forgot todays date. So, when I went to AMC-LIST, I punched
in December 2nd as the date. O.K., ONE post popped up. Then I
noticed that ''TODAY'' was still sitting there and clicked on that.
Which brings me to the real posts of Today. So... first question
is, ''How is it that a post for December 2nd, a day we have not yet
seen show up there??'' Seems if December 2nd has not happened then
there should be NO post there. What gives?/
Now for the 2nd shocker.
The post was put up by Brian Morrow. The post was about the 1973 TSM
on CD ROM. and on the nicety of having one on CD so you could print
the pages you need and not ruin the real book when working on your
car.
All that is fine except that Brian goes on the advertise the CD and
gives pricing along with shipping. Brian, Listers, this TSM is
indeed Copywrite Protected by MOPAR, and only ONE company has the
rights to produce these Cds. LLCLtd, or MOPAR Manuals.com holds the
current rights to produce these CDs. LLC paid hansomly for that
right and making these available which you have made is illegal. Be
warned, LLC, and MOPAR will indeed prosecute you for Stealing this
infpormation and reselling it. Yes, since Mopar owns the property,
and you are selling Their property, they , along with the Law,
considers it Stealing when you sell property you dpo not own the
rights to.
John Newel had tried this previously and learned that he could not
legally sell this info, a copy of Any AMC TSM on CD ROM.
So, How can a post show up on the AMC-List for a day that has not
yet happened?? And how can a person sell material he has no rights
to??
Brian,
You may not have been aware of the illegality of your actions, but
when you Publicly post this violation, it will be hard for you to
say, ''I never sold any'' if Mopar or LLC decides to take you to
court.
Be careful what you post in public view, everyone can read it.
Confess to crimes and it may well come back to haunt you.
Regards,
Randy Guynn
