A: SOunds to me like your Spirit may be tuned, but not correctly adjusted. I 
got almost 20 mpg in my Eagle on the highway, but only 14 around town. My 
neighbor's '79 Concord 2 dr got 16 in town and 22 on the highway with a 232 
1 bbl. (after I fixed the brakes so they weren't dragging and fixed the 
trans so it shifted properly. The converter suddenly died in it on her and 
it wouldn't move. The rest of the trans was like new inside!)

My 6 cylinder Spirit burns about the the same amount of gas as my 390 AMX,
and they are both tuned perfectectly.
