A: Grab ahold of the battery cable going to the starter and tug up on it with the motor running. You'll find out if a loose starter is the trouble REALLY quick that way! (had a customer with a F150 truck today with the same complaint. He hit the key and it zinged a couple times, so I lifted the cable, and saw the starter jump when it finally engaged! He crawled under and had the bottom bolt on the last thread before falling out and the top was all the way out!) Date: Thu, 4 Nov 2004 19:11:05 -0500 The sound is definitely from the trans-engine area. The access hole in the front of the transmiison is where it seems to come from, could be the starter not disengaging like someone suggested. Its a very metallic whirr-moooo. Maybe I can call everyone on the list and do my impersonation over the phone? ((Thanks for the help so far everyone))
