Thanks KEN for the Nice Renault information about the 1.4 Alliances---The reason I asked about the 1.4 Euro Turbo R-11 (Encore) was that it was already in production in Europe at the time of USA Kenosha Renault cars being made here in USA-- and that (perhaps) with the introduction of that Turbo Screamer-- it could have drawn a younger crowd of owners starting WITH production of USA Made Renauls in 1983.... Perhaps many reasons that it was NOT MADE here-- but the Turbo Renault R-11(Encore) WAS the car to have that was fast and cool at the time (for young people with Money) and it could have changed the Type and Age of buyers of AMC/Renaults here in USA back then...... PEUGEOT did the same Mistake in USA by NOT intorducing the 205 Turbo in middle 1980's - A 205 turbo model and also a screamer, hot car,, good looks and drew a young crowd of buyers with a bit of money in their pockets over in Europe.... as for the 1.4 Turbo parts--- the 1987 USA Renault 'GTA' With that INTERFERENCE 2.0 motor did get the "off the shelf" parts from that Turbo motor-- the GTA Front Vented Rotors are 1.4 Turbo-- and also the Rear Suspension and Front Sway bar are TURBO Parts from the 1.4 Euro R-11 model along with body stiffining pannels that the GTA had with the convertible.... Renmember-- USA Got the convertible-- Europe did not get the convertible... My take on this is to try to atract the young crowd to your car dealership-- or at least the people who are willing to spend a lot of money on a model of car.... My opinion is that the introduction of the (R-11) Turbo Encore would have done this, and at that time it was just a HOT car-- screamer, cool and the like.. and would have drawn attention-- instead of starting a car line, running it for 4 years and then trying to boost sales at the END of it's run with the introduction of the USA 'GTA"...... Don't get me wrong-- I have 4 GTA's, and they are the definate hit of the Renault USA Production from any year---- they scream, get great mpg.. and handle like a dream on the blacktop, look great in the summer..... Thanks.... It is an L model (cheepy) except it has a 5sp and a tach. No power steering, no A/C. It has Koni shocks, Momo steering wheel, Momo wheels, Renault supplied front springs, rear torsion bars and sway bars. Beyond that it is entirely stock. Engine, rated at 56hp, is still "sealed" by IMSA. Should be eligible for Vintage Car Racing in 4 years ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist .
