RE: 70 AMC auto tranny

Thanks to everyone who posted responses.
I tried to email Jeff Reeves but it bounced back to me because of an
anti-spam program, so I'm hoping he got my response from the list.

The Javelin spent the night at the transmission shop. The mechanic is going
to pull the pan and see what happened. I hope it's not terminal but on the
other hand I'm tired of wasting time on the thing. I bought the car with
30,000 miles on it 32 yrs ago. I replaced the transmission at about 60,000
miles with a donor from a salvage yard. After putting roughly another 40,000
on that transmission I parked the car for 18 years. When I put the car back
on the road the trans started failing so I had it rebuilt, now it's doing
the "tube leakage" trick. The rebuild cost me $750. I'm not too sure I want
to keep pumping money into that P.O.S. I was so hoping to find a 70 or 71
flywheel for a 304 so I could just put the T5 in until I get the 401 rebuilt
but if I want to enjoy the car while I keep accumulating parts for the
engine change, it looks like I'll have to keep the M44 going. Darn I hate it
when plans don't go the way one had hoped they would.

Any way I'll keep you guys posted as to the results of this "experience"

Thanks,

Armand
