The sepcs posted by someone else stated that the stock pistons were reinforced with steel inserts as well. I know the old style Badgers weren't. When a product fails enough that word gets around -- and it's obviously not an isolated incident -- it's hard to live down. Sounds like the Badgers are as good as stock now, but many will never risk them again. You don't want forged pistons unless you're building a race engine. They require more clearance and are therefore noisy (like a warmed up deisel) until the engine warms up. You already mentioned the expense. If you're comfortable with the Badgers use them. After your post regarding the added reinforcement I'd say they learned a lesson and fixed the problem. If you can find another brand (like Silvolite) you might want to consider it even if they cost a little more. As was mantioned, Badgers are bottom line pistons -- the bottom has to come from cost savings somewhere! They are made "strong enough", but that's all. The stock pistons are cast aluminum, the badgers are cast aluminum with the addition of the reinforced skirts. I used to rev with the stock OE pistons to 55-5800 RPM from 1st to second pretty much on a daily basis from rest. I still havent heard why the cast pistons that I have that are going to replace the cast pistons that I "had" are only going to last a year under the same conditions? Forged pistons would be nice, but do you REALLY think I should get them? I wont be revving past 5800 RPM and won't be using nitrous. What about the people that use badgers and don't have problems with high performance durability? I think if I had a 4 speed, 4.10 gears and was going to spin the motor to 6500-7000 RPM than forged pistons would be better. > > ============================================================= > Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
